no need for paint by numbers.

Yesterday was arts and crafts day.

Miss K painted for the first time.  She loved switching brushes (she is officially right handed) and dipping it in the thick paint.  She was timid at first about putting it on the canvas and began painting on the butcher paper, but once she saw the bright colors on the white, she began painting faster and faster.  She giggled, showed me the paint on her hands, ate the paint and talked to herself the whole time.  She loved it.

And while you may just see colored scribbles, i see beauty.  Worthy of my walls.

The artist by her work.  I think we will use this wall as her gallery, yes?

Much less exciting, but part of craft day, a 4th of July wreath was made.  I had old fabric and found a wood wreath frame at the Dollar Tree.  Decidedly a little too”crafty americana” looking (which normally isn’t my style), but come on….its the 4th of July.

And I also was able to finish a fun skirt with the lemon fabric.  Too cute.  AND….it’s tucked away in a surprise package, being sent in the mail today…to an unsuspecting doll!!!

Who will it be?

And THIS made me smile.  God is good.

  • Love the artwork and I love the artist posing with her artwork – how good is life with just a binky and a diaper??!!!!

    • I think she gets the outfit from Grandpa…..at a moments notice when returning from work, it is off with the dreaded cloths, shorts go one…..the binky has been replaced by a Cigar, but it is basically the same!!:):)

Go Miss K…..painting sounds like a good idea right now…..don’t want to work today…..I know I ain’t Van Gough but it would keep me occupied:):)

  • I have to make one of those wreaths! Adorable!

You’ve inspired me to let the kiddos paint a canvas – perfect artwork for their room!

  • Did she finger paint at all? Neither of my kids like to finger paint. They like to paint thier hands, but not apply that to paper. Weird huh??? I loved finger painting as a kid.

  • the wreath is cute and love the yellow lemon, so summery and happy! good job. and i love the artwork on canvas. and so excited for your friends, i was following their story through your blog and i almost cried tears of joy at their great news!

  • Love it all…Kenz is a great artist. I still haven’t let Luke paint (we always do those messy projects when he’s asleep) but I’m thinking I should plan an outdoor painting activity. You have inspired me! The skirt is so super cute. Very summery…love it! ;)

  • Is that paint on Miss K’s face? :) I adore her artwork, of course! So colorful! Love the lemons-super summery! Whoever gets it needs to wear it on a picnic! And, what a blessing for the McClenahans!!!!

  • Miss K is adorable (as usual). Her artwork is wonderful – i miss those days, now my kids are into actually trying to make it look like something, which is fun too, but not the same.

I love your 4th of July wreath – it has made me want to go out and get some stuff to make one…not sure if that will happen though.

  • One of my favorite happy fabrics. I have a girlie apron out of it that is much too girlie for me but I couldn’t help it. God is good…even to bless us with silly fabrics that make one giddy.
